Therapy for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and Immigrants

Understanding the Importance and Benefits of Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Having a protected space where BIPOC and immigrant individuals can show up fully without needing to code-switch or fully mask can be powerful and liberating. BIPOC and immigrant communities living in the US have often experienced trauma related to systemic racism, discrimination, and other forms of oppression. BIPOC and immigrant individuals may also struggle with questions of cultural identity and how to reconcile their cultural heritage with the majority culture. Exploring their experiences through a lens that honors their identities, background, and culture may offer clients a new perspective and path forward.

Therapy can provide support and guidance in navigating these issues and developing strategies for healing and growth. Guided by an intersectional, culturally-grounded approach, we will co-create a space to explore your personal and interpersonal experiences. We may discuss the impact of colonization, inequality, oppression, and injustice on our communities and relationships. We will honor the coping strategies that may have helped you, your family, and your community survive and resist.
