Dr. Gabriela López-Zerón is the founder of Colibri Therapy & Training. With a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies, specializing in Couples and Family Therapy from Michigan State University, she brings deep expertise to her role as a mental health therapist and researcher. Dr. López-Zerón is dedicated to supporting individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s complexities.
At Colibrí Therapy & Training, Dr. López-Zerón offers a wide range of services, including individual, couple, and family therapy, as well as comprehensive psychosocial immigration evaluations. Her practice is grounded on principles of inclusivity and equity, offering affirming care to immigrants, neurodivergent individuals, and the LGBTQI+ community.
Drawing from her own experiences as a neurodivergent Latina immigrant, Dr. López-Zerón has a nuanced understanding of the interplay between diverse identities and cultural expectations. She fosters a supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their aspirations and work towards their goals. Her therapeutic approach is informed by a blend of Narrative and Collaborative methods and Emotion-Focused Therapy, aiming to help clients address personal challenges, build resilience, and promote overall well-being.
Outside of her therapeutic practice, Dr. López-Zerón is deeply involved in advancing language justice and equity through her work at Spotted Wings Strategies, where she provides collaborative consulting in research, evaluation, strategic planning, and capacity building.
